The Clot
| 1 | ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَiq'raاقرأٱقْرَأْReadbi-is'miباسمبِٱسْمِin (the) namerabbikaربكرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordalladhīالذيٱلَّذِىthe One Whokhalaqaخلقخَلَقَcreated -Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth,Read in the name of your Lord Who created,Recite in the name of your Lord who created –Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- |
| 2 | خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍkhalaqaخلقخَلَقَHe createdl-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanminمنمِنْfromʿalaqinعلقعَلَقٍa clinging substance.Createth man from a clot.created man from a clinging clot.Created man from a clinging substance.Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: |
| 3 | ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُiq'raاقرأٱقْرَأْRead,warabbukaوربكوَرَبُّكَand your Lordl-akramuالأكرمٱلْأَكْرَمُ(is) the Most Generous,Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous,Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous,Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- |
| 4 | ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِalladhīالذيٱلَّذِىThe One Whoʿallamaعلمعَلَّمَtaughtbil-qalamiبالقلمبِٱلْقَلَمِby the pen,Who teacheth by the pen,Who taught by the pen,Who taught by the pen –He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- |
| 5 | عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡʿallamaعلمعَلَّمَTaughtl-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanmāمامَاwhatlamلملَمْnotyaʿlamيعلميَعْلَمْhe knew.Teacheth man that which he knew not.taught man what he did not know[1].Taught man that which he knew not.Taught man that which he knew not. |
| 6 | كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓkallāكلاكَلَّآNay!innaإنإِنَّIndeed,l-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanlayaṭghāليطغىلَيَطْغَىٰٓsurely transgresses,Nay, but verily man is rebelliousIndeed, man transgressesNo! [But] indeed, man transgressesNay, but man doth transgress all bounds, |
| 7 | أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓanأنأَنThatraāhuرآهرَّءَاهُhe sees himselfis'taghnāاستغنىٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓself-sufficient.That he thinketh himself independent!when he deems himself to be self-sufficient.Because he sees himself self-sufficient.In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. |
| 8 | إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓinnaإنإِنَّIndeed,ilāإلىإِلَىٰtorabbikaربكرَبِّكَyour Lordl-ruj'ʿāالرجعىٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ(is) the return.Lo! unto thy Lord is the return.Indeed, to your Lord is the return.Indeed, to your Lord is the return.Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). |
| 9 | أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنۡهَىٰara-aytaأرأيتأَرَءَيْتَHave you seenalladhīالذيٱلَّذِىthe one whoyanhāينهىيَنْهَىٰforbidsHave you seen the one who forbidsHast thou seen him who dissuadethHave you seen the one who prevents[2]Seest thou one who forbids- |
| 10 | عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓʿabdanعبداعَبْدًاA slaveidhāإذاإِذَاwhenṣallāصلىصَلَّىٰٓhe prays?A servant when he prays?A slave when he prayeth?a slave [of Allah] from praying[3]?A votary when he (turns) to pray? |
| 11 | أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓara-aytaأرأيتأَرَءَيْتَHave you seeninإنإِنifkānaكانكَانَhe isʿalāعلىعَلَىuponl-hudāالهدىٱلْهُدَىٰٓ[the] guidance,Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah)Have you seen if he is upon guidanceWhat if this [slave] is rightly guided,Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- |
| 12 | أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓawأوأَوْOramaraأمرأَمَرَhe enjoinsbil-taqwāبالتقوىبِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ[of the] righteousness?Or enjoineth piety?Or enjoins righteousness?and enjoins righteousness?Or enjoins Righteousness? |
| 13 | أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓara-aytaأرأيتأَرَءَيْتَHave you seeninإنإِنifkadhabaكذبكَذَّبَhe denieswatawallāوتولىوَتَوَلَّىٰٓand turns away?Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward?Have you seen if he denies and turns away -How about the one who denies and turns away[4]?Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? |
| 14 | أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰalamألمأَلَمْDoes notyaʿlamيعلميَعْلَمhe knowbi-annaبأنبِأَنَّthatl-lahaاللهٱللَّهَAllahyarāيرىيَرَىٰsees?Is he then unaware that Allah seeth?Does he not know that Allāh sees?Does he not know that Allah is watching all?Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? |
| 15 | كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِkallāكلاكَلَّاNay!la-inلئنلَئِنIflamلملَّمْnotyantahiينتهيَنتَهِhe desists,lanasfaʿanلنسفعالَنَسْفَعًۢاsurely We will drag himbil-nāṣiyatiبالناصيةبِٱلنَّاصِيَةِby the forelock,Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock -No indeed; if he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock[5]No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock[1952] –Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- |
| 16 | نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖnāṣiyatinناصيةنَاصِيَةٍA forelockkādhibatinكاذبةكَٰذِبَةٍlying,khāṭi-atinخاطئةخَاطِئَةٍsinful.The lying, sinful forelock -a lying, sinful forelock[6].A lying, sinning forelock.A lying, sinful forelock! |
| 17 | فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥfalyadʿuفليدعفَلْيَدْعُThen let him callnādiyahuناديهنَادِيَهُۥhis associates,Then let him call upon his henchmen!So let him call his associates;Then let him call his associates;Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): |
| 18 | سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَsanadʿuسندعسَنَدْعُWe will calll-zabāniyataالزبانيةٱلزَّبَانِيَةَthe Angels of Hell.We will call the guards of hell.We will call the wardens of Hellfire[7].We will call the angels of Hell.[1953]We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! |
| 19 | كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩kallāكلاكَلَّاNay!lāلالَا(Do) nottuṭiʿ'huتطعهتُطِعْهُobey him.wa-us'judواسجدوَٱسْجُدْBut prostratewa-iq'taribواقتربوَٱقْتَرِبand draw near (to Allah).Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah).No indeed; do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near [to Allah].No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allāh].Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! |
| 1 | اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ |
| 2 | خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ |
| 3 | اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ |
| 4 | الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ |
| 5 | عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ |
| 6 | كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ |
| 7 | أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ |
| 8 | إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ |
| 9 | أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ |
| 10 | عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ |
| 11 | أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ |
| 12 | أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ |
| 13 | أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ |
| 14 | أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ |
| 15 | كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ |
| 16 | نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ |
| 17 | فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ |
| 18 | سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ |
| 19 | كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب ۩ |

| 5 | عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْʿallamaعلمعَلَّمَTaughtl-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanmāمامَاwhatlamلملَمْnotyaʿlamيعلميَعْلَمْhe knew.Teacheth man that which he knew not.taught man what he did not know[1].Taught man that which he knew not.Taught man that which he knew not. |
| 6 | كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓkallāكلاكَلَّآNay!innaإنإِنَّIndeed,l-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanlayaṭghāليطغىلَيَطْغَىٰٓsurely transgresses,Nay, but verily man is rebelliousIndeed, man transgressesNo! [But] indeed, man transgressesNay, but man doth transgress all bounds, |

| ﲢ | ﲞ ﲟ ﲠ ﲡ |
| ﲦ | ﲣ ﲤ ﲥ |
| ﲫ | ﲧ ﲨ ﲩ ﲪ |
| ﲯ | ﲬ ﲭ ﲮ |
| ﲳ | ﲰ ﲱ ﲲ |
| ﲹ | ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ |
| ﲽ | ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ |
| ﱅ | ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ |
| ﱋ | ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ |
| ﱒ | ﱌ ﱍ ﱎ ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ |
| ﱖ | ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ |
| ﱙ | ﱗ ﱘ |
| ﱜ | ﱚ ﱛ |
| ﱤ | ﱝ ﱞ ﱟ ﱠﱡ ﱢﱣ |
ﲅ ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ ﲏ ﲐ
ﲑ ﲒ ﲓ ﲔ ﲕ ﲖ ﲗ ﲘ ﲙ
ﲚ ﲛ ﲜ ﲝ ﲞ ﲟ ﲠ ﲡ ﲢ ﲣ ﲤ ﲥ
ﲦ ﲧ ﲨ ﲩ ﲪ ﲫ ﲬ ﲭ ﲮ ﲯ ﲰ
ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ ﲹ ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ ﲽ
ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ ﱋ ﱌ ﱍ ﱎ ﱏ
ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ ﱖ ﱗ ﱘ ﱙ
ﱚ ﱛ ﱜ ﱝ ﱞ ﱟ ﱠﱡ ﱢﱣ ﱤ
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ١ خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ٢ اقْرَأْ
وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ٣ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ٤ عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ
مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ٥ كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ ٦ أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ
٧ إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ ٨ أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ ٩ عَبْدًا
إِذَا صَلَّىٰ ١٠ أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ ١١ أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ ١٢
أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ١٣ أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ١٤ كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ
لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ١٥ نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ ١٦ فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ ١٧
سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ١٨ كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب ۩ ١٩
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ١ خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ٢ ٱقْرَأْ
وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ ٣ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ ٤ عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ٥ كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ ٦ أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
٧ إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ ٨ أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ ٩ عَبْدًا
إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ١٠ أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ١١ أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ ١٢
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ١٣ أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ١٤ كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ
لَنَسْفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ١٥ نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖ ١٦ فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ ١٧
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ١٨ كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب۩ ١٩
ﲅ ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ ﲏ ﲐ
