﮷

The City
1 لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِlāلالَآNay!uq'simuأقسمأُقْسِمُI swearbihādhāبهذابِهَٰذَاby thisl-baladiالبلدٱلْبَلَدِcity,Nay, I swear by this city -I do swear by this city [of Makkah] –I swear by this city [i.e., Makkah] –I do call to witness this City;-
2 وَأَنتَ حِلُّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِwa-antaوأنتوَأَنتَAnd youḥillunحلحِلٌّۢ(are) free (to dwell)bihādhāبهذابِهَٰذَاin thisl-baladiالبلدٱلْبَلَدِcity.And thou art an indweller of this city -and you are free of restriction [for a while] in this city[1] –And you, [O Muḥammad], are free of restriction in this city –And thou art a freeman of this City;-
3 وَوَالِدٖ وَمَا وَلَدَwawālidinووالدوَوَالِدٍAnd the begetterwamāوماوَمَاand whatwaladaولدوَلَدَhe begot.And the begetter and that which he begat,and by every parent[2] and his offspring,And [by] the father[1924] and that which was born [of him],And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-
4 لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍlaqadلقدلَقَدْCertainly,khalaqnāخلقناخَلَقْنَاWe have createdl-insānaالإنسانٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanfīفيفِى(to be) inkabadinكبدكَبَدٍhardship.We verily have created man in an atmosphere:We have created man in hardship.We have certainly created man into hardship.Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.
5 أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقۡدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ أَحَدٞayaḥsabuأيحسبأَيَحْسَبُDoes he thinkanأنأَنthatlanلنلَّنnotyaqdiraيقدريَقْدِرَhas powerʿalayhiعليهعَلَيْهِover himaḥadunأحدأَحَدٌanyone?Thinketh he that none hath power over him?Does he think that none can ever have power over him?Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?
6 يَقُولُ أَهۡلَكۡتُ مَالٗا لُّبَدًاyaqūluيقوليَقُولُHe will say,ahlaktuأهلكتأَهْلَكْتُ"I have squanderedmālanمالامَالًاwealthlubadanلبدالُّبَدًاabundant."And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth:He says, “I have squandered enormous wealth!”He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!
7 أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّمۡ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌayaḥsabuأيحسبأَيَحْسَبُDoes he thinkanأنأَنthatlamلملَّمْnotyarahuيرهيَرَهُۥٓsees himaḥadunأحدأَحَدٌanyone?Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?Does he think that no one sees him?Does he think that no one has seen him?Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
8 أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِalamألمأَلَمْHave notnajʿalنجعلنَجْعَلWe madelahuلهلَّهُۥfor himʿaynayniعينينعَيْنَيْنِtwo eyes?Did We not assign unto him two eyesHave We not given him two eyes,Have We not made for him two eyes?Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-
9 وَلِسَانٗا وَشَفَتَيۡنِwalisānanولساناوَلِسَانًاAnd a tongue,washafatayniوشفتينوَشَفَتَيْنِand two lips?And a tongue and two lips,and a tongue and two lips,And a tongue and two lips?And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-
10 وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِwahadaynāhuوهديناهوَهَدَيْنَٰهُAnd shown himl-najdayniالنجدينٱلنَّجْدَيْنِthe two ways?And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways?and shown him the two ways [of right and wrong]?And have shown him the two ways?[1925]And shown him the two highways?
11 فَلَا ٱقۡتَحَمَ ٱلۡعَقَبَةَfalāفلافَلَاBut notiq'taḥamaاقتحمٱقْتَحَمَhe has attemptedl-ʿaqabataالعقبةٱلْعَقَبَةَthe steep path.But he hath not attempted the Ascent -Yet he did not make his way through the steep path[3],But he has not broken through the difficult pass.[1926]But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.
12 وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡعَقَبَةُwamāوماوَمَآAnd whatadrākaأدراكأَدْرَىٰكَcan make you knowmāمامَاwhatl-ʿaqabatuالعقبةٱلْعَقَبَةُthe steep path (is)?Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! -and how do you know what the steep path is?And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-
13 فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍfakkuفكفَكُّ(It is) freeingraqabatinرقبةرَقَبَةٍa neck,(It is) to free a slave,It is freeing a slave,It is the freeing of a slave(It is:) freeing the bondman;
14 أَوۡ إِطۡعَٰمٞ فِي يَوۡمٖ ذِي مَسۡغَبَةٖawأوأَوْOriṭ'ʿāmunإطعامإِطْعَٰمٌfeedingfīفيفِىinyawminيوميَوْمٍa daydhīذيذِىofmasghabatinمسغبةمَسْغَبَةٍsevere hunger.And to feed in the day of hunger.or giving food on a day of hunger,Or feeding on a day of severe hungerOr the giving of food in a day of privation
15 يَتِيمٗا ذَا مَقۡرَبَةٍyatīmanيتيمايَتِيمًاAn orphandhāذاذَاofmaqrabatinمقربةمَقْرَبَةٍnear relationship,An orphan near of kin,to an orphan relative,An orphan of near relationshipTo the orphan with claims of relationship,
16 أَوۡ مِسۡكِينٗا ذَا مَتۡرَبَةٖawأوأَوْOrmis'kīnanمسكينامِسْكِينًاa needy persondhāذاذَاinmatrabatinمتربةمَتْرَبَةٍmisery,Or some poor wretch in misery,or to a needy person in misery,Or a needy person in miseryOr to the indigent (down) in the dust.
17 ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِthummaثمثُمَّThenkānaكانكَانَhe isminaمنمِنَofalladhīnaالذينٱلَّذِينَthose whoāmanūآمنواءَامَنُواْbelievewatawāṣawوتواصواوَتَوَاصَوْاْand enjoin (each other)bil-ṣabriبالصبربِٱلصَّبْرِto patience,watawāṣawوتواصواوَتَوَاصَوْاْand enjoin (each other)bil-marḥamatiبالمرحمةبِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِto compassion.And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity.then [most importantly] to be one of those who believe and exhort one another to patience and exhort one another to compassion.And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.
18 أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِulāikaأولئكأُوْلَٰٓئِكَThoseaṣḥābuأصحابأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsl-maymanatiالميمنةٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ(of) the right (hand)Their place will be on the right hand.Such are the people of the Right[4].Those are the companions of the right.[1927]Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.
19 وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِwa-alladhīnaوالذينوَٱلَّذِينَBut those whokafarūكفرواكَفَرُواْdisbelievebiāyātināبآياتنابِـَٔايَٰتِنَاin Our Verses,humهمهُمْtheyaṣḥābuأصحابأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsl-mashamatiالمشأمةٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ(of) the left (hand).But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand.As for those who reject Our signs, they are the people of the Left[5],But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.[1928]But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.
20 عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَارٞ مُّؤۡصَدَةُۢʿalayhimعليهمعَلَيْهِمْOver them,nārunنارنَارٌ(will be the) Firemu'ṣadatunمؤصدةمُّؤْصَدَةٌۢclosed in.Fire will be an awning over them.who will be locked up in the Fire.Over them will be fire closed in.[1929]On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).
1 لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
2 وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
3 وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
4 لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
5 أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
6 يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
7 أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
8 أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ
9 وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
10 وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
11 فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ
12 وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ
13 فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
14 أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ
15 يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
16 أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
17 ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ
18 أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ
19 وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ
20 عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ

ﲗ ﲓ ﲔ ﲕ ﲖ
ﲚ ﲘ ﲙ
ﲝ ﲛ ﲜ
ﲡ ﲞ ﲟ ﲠ
ﲦ ﲢ ﲣ ﲤ ﲥ
ﲩ ﲧ ﲨ
ﲰ ﲪ ﲫ ﲬ ﲭ ﲮ ﲯ
ﲴ ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ
ﲹ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ
ﳃ ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ
ﳇ ﳄ ﳅ ﳆ
ﱇ ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ
ﱋ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ
ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ
ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ
ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ ﲏ ﲐ ﲑ
ﲒ ﲓ ﲔ ﲕ ﲖ ﲗ ﲘ ﲙ ﲚ ﲛ
ﲜ ﲝ ﲞ ﲟ ﲠ ﲡ ﲢ ﲣ ﲤ ﲥ ﲦ
ﲧ ﲨ ﲩ ﲪ ﲫ ﲬ ﲭ ﲮ ﲯ ﲰ ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ
ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ ﲹ ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ
ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ ﳃ ﳄ ﳅ ﳆ ﳇ
ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ ﱋ
لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ ١ وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ ٢ وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
٣ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ ٤ أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ
أَحَدٌ ٥ يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا ٦ أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
٧ أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ٨ وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ٩ وَهَدَيْنَاهُ
النَّجْدَيْنِ ١٠ فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ ١١ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ ١٢
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ١٣ أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ ١٤ يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
١٥ أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ ١٦ ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا
بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ ١٧ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ ١٨
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ ١٩ عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ٢٠
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ۝١ وَأَنتَ حِلُّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ ۝٢ وَوَالِدٖ وَمَا وَلَدَ
۝٣ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍ ۝٤ أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ
أَحَدَ ۝٥ يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالٗا لُّبَدًا ۝٦ أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُٓ أَحَدٌ
۝٧ أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ۝٨ وَلِسَانٗا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ۝٩ وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ
ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ ۝١٠ فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ ۝١١ وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ ۝١٢
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ۝١٣ أَوْ إِطْعَٰمَ فِي يَوْمٖ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٖ ۝١٤ يَتِيمٗا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
۝١٥ أَوْ مِسْكِينٗا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٖ ۝١٦ ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ
بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ ۝١٧ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ۝١٨
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ ۝١٩ عَلَيْهِمْ نَارَ مُّؤْصَدَةُۢ ۝٢٠
ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ
ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ
ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ ﲏ ﲐ ﲑ ﲒ
