The Sun
1 وَٱلشَّمۡسِ وَضُحَىٰهَاwal-shamsiوالشمسوَٱلشَّمْسِBy the sunwaḍuḥāhāوضحاهاوَضُحَىٰهَاand its brightness,By the sun and his brightness,By the sun and its brightness,By the sun and its brightnessBy the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
2 وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَاwal-qamariوالقمروَٱلْقَمَرِAnd the moonidhāإذاإِذَاwhentalāhāتلاهاتَلَىٰهَاit follows it,And the moon when she followeth him,and by the moon as it follows it[1],And [by] the moon when it follows itBy the Moon as she follows him;
3 وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَاwal-nahāriوالنهاروَٱلنَّهَارِAnd the dayidhāإذاإِذَاwhenjallāhāجلاهاجَلَّىٰهَاit displays it,And the day when it revealeth him,and by the day as it displays it[2],And [by] the day when it displays it[1931]By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;
4 وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰهَاwa-al-layliوالليلوَٱلَّيْلِAnd the nightidhāإذاإِذَاwhenyaghshāhāيغشاهايَغْشَىٰهَاit covers it,And the night when it enshroudeth him,and by the night as it covers it[3],And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] itBy the Night as it conceals it;
5 وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَاwal-samāiوالسماءوَٱلسَّمَآءِAnd the heavenwamāوماوَمَاand (He) Whobanāhāبناهابَنَىٰهَاconstructed it,And the heaven and Him Who built it,and by the sky and how He made it,And [by] the sky and He who constructed itBy the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;
6 وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَاwal-arḍiوالأرضوَٱلْأَرْضِAnd the earthwamāوماوَمَاand by (He) Whoṭaḥāhāطحاهاطَحَىٰهَاspread it,And the earth and Him Who spread it,and by the earth and how He spread it,And [by] the earth and He who spread itBy the Earth and its (wide) expanse:
7 وَنَفۡسٖ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَاwanafsinونفسوَنَفْسٍAnd (the) soulwamāوماوَمَاand (He) Whosawwāhāسواهاسَوَّىٰهَاproportioned it,And a soul and Him Who perfected itand by the soul and how He fashioned it[4],And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it[1932]By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;
8 فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَاfa-alhamahāفألهمهافَأَلْهَمَهَاAnd He inspired itfujūrahāفجورهافُجُورَهَا(to distinguish) its wickednesswataqwāhāوتقواهاوَتَقْوَىٰهَاand its righteousnessAnd inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.then inspired it [to know] its wickedness and righteousness,And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
9 قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَاqadقدقَدْIndeed,aflaḥaأفلحأَفْلَحَhe succeedsmanمنمَنwhozakkāhāزكاهازَكَّىٰهَاpurifies it,He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow,Indeed, he who purifies his soul will attain success,He has succeeded who purifies it,Truly he succeeds that purifies it,
10 وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَاwaqadوقدوَقَدْAnd indeed,khābaخابخَابَhe failsmanمنمَنwhodassāhāدساهادَسَّىٰهَاburies it.And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it.and he who corrupts it will be doomed.And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].And he fails that corrupts it!
11 كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآkadhabatكذبتكَذَّبَتْDeniedthamūduثمودثَمُودُThamudbiṭaghwāhāبطغواهابِطَغْوَىٰهَآby their transgression,(The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride,Thamūd rejected [the messenger] because of their transgression,Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
12 إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشۡقَىٰهَاidhiإذإِذِWheninbaʿathaانبعثٱنۢبَعَثَ(was) sent forthashqāhāأشقاهاأَشْقَىٰهَا(the) most wicked of them.When the basest of them broke forthwhen the most wretched among them rose[5].When the most wretched of them was sent forth.[1933]Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).
13 فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقۡيَٰهَاfaqālaفقالفَقَالَBut saidlahumلهملَهُمْto themrasūluرسولرَسُولُ(the) Messengerl-lahiاللهٱللَّهِ(of) Allah,nāqataناقةنَاقَةَ"(It is the) she-camell-lahiاللهٱللَّهِ(of) Allahwasuq'yāhāوسقياهاوَسُقْيَٰهَاand her drink."And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink!Although the messenger of Allah warned them, “Hands off the she-camel of Allah and her drink!”And the messenger of Allāh [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allāh or [prevent her from] her drink."But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"
14 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوَّىٰهَاfakadhabūhuفكذبوهفَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied him,faʿaqarūhāفعقروهافَعَقَرُوهَاand they hamstrung her.fadamdamaفدمدمفَدَمْدَمَSo destroyedʿalayhimعليهمعَلَيْهِمْthemrabbuhumربهمرَبُّهُمtheir Lordbidhanbihimبذنبهمبِذَنۢبِهِمْfor their sinfasawwāhāفسواهافَسَوَّىٰهَاand leveled them.But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).Yet they rejected him and hamstrung her[6]. So their Lord destroyed them for their sin and leveled them to the ground.But they denied him and hamstrung[1934] her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
15 وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبَٰهَاwalāولاوَلَاAnd notyakhāfuيخافيَخَافُHe fearsʿuq'bāhāعقباهاعُقْبَٰهَاits consequences.He dreadeth not the sequel (of events).And He has no fear of the consequences thereof[7].And He does not fear the consequence thereof.[1935]And for Him is no fear of its consequences.

4 وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا
5 وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا
6 وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا
7 وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا
8 فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا
9 قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا
10 وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّاهَا
11 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا
12 إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا
13 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا
14 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا
15 وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا

وَمَا طَحَاهَا ٦ وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا ٧ فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا
وَتَقْوَاهَا ٨ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا ٩ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّاهَا
١٠ كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا ١١ إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا ١٢ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ
رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا ١٣ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ
عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا ١٤ وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا ١٥
وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا ۝١ وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا ۝٢ وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
۝٣ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا ۝٤ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا ۝٥ وَٱلْأَرْضِ
وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا ۝٦ وَنَفْسٖ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا ۝٧ فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا
وَتَقْوَىٰهَا ۝٨ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا ۝٩ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
۝١٠ كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ ۝١١ إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا ۝١٢ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ
رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا ۝١٣ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ
عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا ۝١٤ وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا ۝١٥
ﱌ ﱍ ﱎ ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ ﱖ
ﱗ ﱘ ﱙ ﱚ ﱛ ﱜ ﱝ ﱞ
ﱠ ﱡ ﱢ ﱣ ﱤ ﱥ ﱦ ﱧ ﱨ
ﱩ ﱪ ﱫ ﱬ ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ
