The Overwhelming Event
1 هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِhalهلهَلْHasatākaأتاكأَتَىٰكَ(there) come to youḥadīthuحديثحَدِيثُ(the) newsl-ghāshiyatiالغاشيةٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ(of) the Overwhelming?Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?Has there come to you the story of the Overwhelming Event?Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
2 وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌwujūhunوجوهوُجُوهٌFacesyawma-idhinيومئذيَوْمَئِذٍthat Daykhāshiʿatunخاشعةخَٰشِعَةٌ(will be) humbled,On that day (many) faces will be downcast,On that Day, some faces will be humiliated,[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,
3 عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞʿāmilatunعاملةعَامِلَةٌLaboring,nāṣibatunناصبةنَّاصِبَةٌexhausted.Toiling, weary,overburdened and weary[1],Working [hard] and exhausted.[1910]Labouring (hard), weary,-
4 تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗtaṣlāتصلىتَصْلَىٰThey will burnnāranنارانَارًا(in) a Fireḥāmiyatanحاميةحَامِيَةًintensely hot.Scorched by burning fire,as they burn in a scorching Fire.They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-
5 تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖtus'qāتسقىتُسْقَىٰThey will be given to drinkminمنمِنْfromʿayninعينعَيْنٍa spring,āniyatinآنيةءَانِيَةٍboiling.Drinking from a boiling spring,They will be made to drink from a boiling spring,They will be given drink from a boiling spring.The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,
6 لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖlaysaليسلَّيْسَNot islahumلهملَهُمْfor themṭaʿāmunطعامطَعَامٌfoodillāإلاإِلَّاexceptminمنمِنfromḍarīʿinضريعضَرِيعٍa bitter thorny plant,No food for them save bitter thorn-fruitand they will have no food except bitter thorny plants,For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plantNo food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'
7 لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖlāلالَّاNotyus'minuيسمنيُسْمِنُit nourisheswalāولاوَلَاand notyugh'nīيغنييُغْنِىit availsminمنمِنfromjūʿinجوعجُوعٍhunger.Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger.that neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger.Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
8 وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞwujūhunوجوهوُجُوهٌFacesyawma-idhinيومئذيَوْمَئِذٍthat Daynāʿimatunناعمةنَّاعِمَةٌ(will be) joyful.In that day other faces will be calm,Other faces on that Day will be joyful,[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,
9 لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞlisaʿyihāلسعيهالِّسَعْيِهَاWith their effortrāḍiyatunراضيةرَاضِيَةٌsatisfied,Glad for their effort past,well-pleased with their past striving,With their effort [they are] satisfiedPleased with their striving,-
10 فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖfīفيفِىInjannatinجنةجَنَّةٍa gardenʿāliyatinعاليةعَالِيَةٍelevated.In a high Gardenin an elevated garden,In an elevated garden,In a Garden on high,
11 لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗlāلالَّاNottasmaʿuتسمعتَسْمَعُthey will hearfīhāفيهافِيهَاthereinlāghiyatanلاغيةلَٰغِيَةًvain talk.Where they hear no idle speech,wherein no idle talk will be heard[2].Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.[1911]Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:
12 فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞfīhāفيهافِيهَاThereinʿaynunعينعَيْنٌ(will be) a springjāriyatunجاريةجَارِيَةٌflowing,Wherein is a gushing spring,There will be a flowing spring;Within it is a flowing spring.Therein will be a bubbling spring:
13 فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞfīhāفيهافِيهَاThereinsururunسررسُرُرٌ(will be) thronesmarfūʿatunمرفوعةمَّرْفُوعَةٌraised high,Wherein are couches raisedand couches raised high,Within it are couches raised highTherein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,
14 وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞwa-akwābunوأكوابوَأَكْوَابٌAnd cupsmawḍūʿatunموضوعةمَّوْضُوعَةٌput in place,And goblets set at handand cups placed ready,And cups put in placeGoblets placed (ready),
15 وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞwanamāriquونمارقوَنَمَارِقُAnd cushionsmaṣfūfatunمصفوفةمَصْفُوفَةٌlined up,And cushions rangedand cushions lined up,And cushions lined upAnd cushions set in rows,
16 وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌwazarābiyyuوزرابيوَزَرَابِىُّAnd carpetsmabthūthatunمبثوثةمَبْثُوثَةٌspread out.And silken carpets spread.and splendid carpets spread out.And carpets spread around.And rich carpets (all) spread out.
17 أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡafalāأفلاأَفَلَاThen do notyanẓurūnaينظرونيَنظُرُونَthey lookilāإلىإِلَىtowardsl-ibiliالإبلٱلْإِبِلِthe camels,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhowkhuliqatخلقتخُلِقَتْthey are created?Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?Do they not reflect on the camel, how it is created;Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-
18 وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡwa-ilāوإلىوَإِلَىAnd towardsl-samāiالسماءٱلسَّمَآءِthe sky,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhowrufiʿatرفعترُفِعَتْit is raised?And the heaven, how it is raised?and the sky, how it is raised high;And at the sky - how it is raised?And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-
19 وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡwa-ilāوإلىوَإِلَىAnd towardsl-jibāliالجبالٱلْجِبَالِthe mountains,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhownuṣibatنصبتنُصِبَتْthey are fixed?And at the mountains - how they are erected?And the hills, how they are set up?and the mountains, how they are firmly set up;And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-
20 وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡwa-ilāوإلىوَإِلَىAnd towardsl-arḍiالأرضٱلْأَرْضِthe earth,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhowsuṭiḥatسطحتسُطِحَتْit is spread out?And at the earth - how it is spread out?And the earth, how it is spread?and the earth, how it is spread out?And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
21 فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞfadhakkirفذكرفَذَكِّرْSo remind,innamāإنماإِنَّمَآonlyantaأنتأَنتَyoumudhakkirunمذكرمُذَكِّرٌ(are) a reminder.Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer,So remind [O Prophet]; your duty is only to remind;So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.
22 لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍlastaلستلَّسْتَYou are notʿalayhimعليهمعَلَيْهِمover thembimuṣayṭirinبمصيطربِمُصَيْطِرٍa controller,Thou art not at all a warder over them.you are not assigned to compel them.You are not over them a controller.Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.
23 إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَillāإلاإِلَّاButmanمنمَنwhoevertawallāتولىتَوَلَّىٰturns awaywakafaraوكفروَكَفَرَand disbelieves,But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,But whoever turns away and disbelieves,However, he who turns away and disbelieves –But if any turn away and reject Allah,-
24 فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَfayuʿadhibuhuفيعذبهفَيُعَذِّبُهُThen will punish himl-lahuاللهٱللَّهُAllahl-ʿadhābaالعذابٱلْعَذَابَ(with) the punishmentl-akbaraالأكبرٱلْأَكْبَرَgreatest.Allah will punish him with direst punishment.Allah will inflict upon him the greatest punishment[3].Then Allāh will punish him with the greatest punishment.Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,
25 إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡinnaإنإِنَّIndeed,ilaynāإليناإِلَيْنَآto Usiyābahumإيابهمإِيَابَهُمْ(will be) their return,Lo! unto Us is their returnIndeed, to Us is their return,Indeed, to Us is their return.For to Us will be their return;
26 ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُمthummaثمثُمَّTheninnaإنإِنَّindeed,ʿalaynāعليناعَلَيْنَاupon Usḥisābahumحسابهمحِسَابَهُم(is) their account.And Ours their reckoning.then it is for Us to call them to account.Then indeed, upon Us is their account.Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
1 هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
2 وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
3 عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
4 تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
5 تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
6 لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
7 لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ
8 وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
9 لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
10 فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
11 لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
12 فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
13 فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
14 وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
15 وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
16 وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
17 أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
18 وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
19 وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
20 وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
21 فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
22 لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
23 إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
24 فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
25 إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
26 ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
1 هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِhalهلهَلْHasatākaأتاكأَتَىٰكَ(there) come to youḥadīthuحديثحَدِيثُ(the) newsl-ghāshiyatiالغاشيةٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ(of) the Overwhelming?Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?Has there come to you the story of the Overwhelming Event?Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
2 وُجُوهَ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌwujūhunوجوهوُجُوهٌFacesyawma-idhinيومئذيَوْمَئِذٍthat Daykhāshiʿatunخاشعةخَٰشِعَةٌ(will be) humbled,On that day (many) faces will be downcast,On that Day, some faces will be humiliated,[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

9 لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةَlisaʿyihāلسعيهالِّسَعْيِهَاWith their effortrāḍiyatunراضيةرَاضِيَةٌsatisfied,Glad for their effort past,well-pleased with their past striving,With their effort [they are] satisfiedPleased with their striving,-
10 فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖfīفيفِىInjannatinجنةجَنَّةٍa gardenʿāliyatinعاليةعَالِيَةٍelevated.In a high Gardenin an elevated garden,In an elevated garden,In a Garden on high,
11 لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗlāلالَّاNottasmaʿuتسمعتَسْمَعُthey will hearfīhāفيهافِيهَاthereinlāghiyatanلاغيةلَٰغِيَةًvain talk.Where they hear no idle speech,wherein no idle talk will be heard[2].Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.[1911]Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:

16 وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌwazarābiyyuوزرابيوَزَرَابِىُّAnd carpetsmabthūthatunمبثوثةمَبْثُوثَةٌspread out.And silken carpets spread.and splendid carpets spread out.And carpets spread around.And rich carpets (all) spread out.
17 أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْafalāأفلاأَفَلَاThen do notyanẓurūnaينظرونيَنظُرُونَthey lookilāإلىإِلَىtowardsl-ibiliالإبلٱلْإِبِلِthe camels,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhowkhuliqatخلقتخُلِقَتْthey are created?Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?Do they not reflect on the camel, how it is created;Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-

19 وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْwa-ilāوإلىوَإِلَىAnd towardsl-jibāliالجبالٱلْجِبَالِthe mountains,kayfaكيفكَيْفَhownuṣibatنصبتنُصِبَتْthey are fixed?And at the mountains - how they are erected?And the hills, how they are set up?and the mountains, how they are firmly set up;And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-

ﱸ ﱶ ﱷ
ﱼ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ
ﲁ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ
ﲈ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ ﲆ ﲇ
ﲏ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ
ﲓ ﲐ ﲑ ﲒ
ﲖ ﲔ ﲕ
ﲚ ﲗ ﲘ ﲙ
ﲟ ﲛ ﲜ ﲝ ﲞ
ﲣ ﲠ ﲡ ﲢ
ﲧ ﲤ ﲥ ﲦ
ﲪ ﲨ ﲩ
ﲭ ﲫ ﲬ
ﲰ ﲮ ﲯ
ﲷ ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ
ﲼ ﲸ ﲹ ﲺ ﲻ
ﳁ ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ ﳀ
ﳆ ﳂ ﳃ ﳄ ﳅ
ﳋ ﳇ ﳈ ﳉ ﳊ
ﳏ ﳌ ﳍ ﳎ
ﱅ ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ
ﱊ ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ
ﱎ ﱋ ﱌ ﱍ
ﱓ ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ
ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ
ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ ١ وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ٢ عَامِلَةٌ
نَّاصِبَةٌ ٣ تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ٤ تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ ٥ لَّيْسَ
لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ٦ لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ ٧ وُجُوهٌ
يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ٨ لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ٩ فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ١٠ لَّا تَسْمَعُ
فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً ١١ فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ١٢ فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ١٣ وَأَكْوَابٌ
مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ١٤ وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ١٥ وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ١٦ أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ
إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ١٧ وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ١٨ وَإِلَى
الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ١٩ وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ٢٠
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ٢١ لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ٢٢
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ٢٣ فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ ٢٤
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ ٢٥ ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ٢٦
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ ۝١ وُجُوهَ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ ۝٢ عَامِلَةَ
